🎨 Santa Marta: culture, stories, and views of a different Rio
Come with me to explore Santa Marta with curiosity and respect, accompanied by local guides. We won’t just be looking for a photo: we’ll discover the community, its cultural expressions, and the little corners that make this part of Rio special.

💛 Why choose this tour?
You’ll get to know Santa Marta beyond its viewpoints, visiting community spaces, art, and places that tell its story. In 1996, part of the music video for Michael Jackson’s “They Don’t Care About Us” was filmed here. The statue in his honor and the Romero Britto mosaic help connect that history to the real place, but the community has much more to tell!
🗺️ Our itinerary
- Meet at the Corumbá Plaza tourism stand and take the cable car up to the fifth station.
- Walk for about 15 minutes to the Pedrão Viewpoint and return to the UPP area via a trail of approximately 10 minutes. At the fifth station, we’ll have time to enjoy the view and take photos.
- Soccer time with local children, a visit to Michael Jackson’s Laje and the Arena Viewpoint, a new tourist spot.
- Pass by souvenir shops and stalls and walk down alleys and passageways.
- During the tour, we’ll also visit the Residents’ Association, the Tudo de Cor project with its colorful houses, Cantão Plaza, and the samba school.

📍 Meeting point and times
Corumbá Plaza, at the tourism stand. Open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Group tour with departures at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Private tour at a mutually agreed time between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., subject to advance booking and availability.
🎒 Requirements and recommendations
The route includes walking, trails, and elevation changes. Please let us know about any mobility needs, bring water, and wear comfortable shoes. Ask for permission before taking photos of people, especially children. Activities and access must respect the community’s conditions on the day.
